Medium - 5
following up on my previous post — using Medium as an accessory to my web site which currently doesn’t exist
(error 404 - sorry)
actually it does exits— it’s totality (hundreds of files) are on my computers (or is it ‘in’ my computers) and back up drives but only a few things are on line
what do i want to do with it —
my plan
there are a lot of things i don’t like about it — a lot of details i want to change
so i want to make changes and put it back
a little different from before
a little different from what it was and is
i plan on putting it back on line gradually - using Medium posts to detail the process of [re]building {a / my} website
i’m not in a hurry and will work slowly trying to get everything the way i want it — trying to annotate what i’m doing or trying to do or planning on doing —
putting things back up
putting things back together
i want the process to be transparent
i want the process to be part of the result
(my plans keep changing —
fluctuations — something in the wind — here today there tomorrow)
my goal
to make a web site
to show what i can do or what can be done with a web site
i want to show (performative work) that it’s not difficult to make a web site rather inexpensively (i am using Adobe Dreamweaver and that is a bit expensive but there are other technologies available)
it doesn’t need any of the technologies that call attention to themselves — it doesn’t need to sell anything — it requires some patience and enduring a lot of frustration but it doesn’t require the skills of a software engineer or a web developer
writing differently is difficult — it takes at least 2 days for me to write and assemble a post like this one
at this time my site doesn’t use any scripts etc and probably never — (i think programming is interesting and may do some in the future)
i want the web site to be an art work
i want a web site that some people (or one person at least) will want to look at more than once
i want something that at least one person will learn something from
there is a quote from E M Cioran that i’d like to put here but i can’t find it — there is also a quote from Nietzsche that could go here but i don’t have time to look for it so i’ll paraphrase
one doesn’t write because [s]he has something to say — one writes because [s]he wants to say something
i have nothing to {say / write} but want to write it anyway —
there is no block - no something inside of me that wants to ‘come out’ - that wants to ‘be {said/written}’ —
so i make it up as i go along —
please — no advice - if you know how to write i probably don’t want to read what you’ve written — if you know enough about writing to give me advice i’m almost certain you’ve written nothing i want to read
i’m fascinated by interested in - paradoxes of space and time (cosmology)— a life has a beginning and an end but within {the / a} life span there can be things with no beginning and no end —
i continue the beginningless endless l{task / work} of making a web site (actually it’s quite difficult to make a web site but ‘you’ should do it anyway)
