Sunday - 12:30AM — things that come to mind — memories — images — muddy streets in (where) — Murdo, S.D. — time lines — talk of painting and photo portfolio from western trip —
reading Olson — thinking of Desert Music — Olson mentions Williams

<the poem or the music>

rain in west — through mud to a grocery store to buy ice — a snapshot of a forgotten place — snap shut the notebook — open curtains for a new day — last day of June — not quite the year’s midpoint — waning sun
heat and breeze —
cantos of knowledge — writing that serves different purposes in different forms and configurations as my art work is designed for different scales etc — how my art is not worked over like traditional painting writing etc — simply start and finish — pick out the good hopefully
ink drawings sculptures etc — the idea of actually working on a piece until I have a finished product is difficult because I am more interested in the process itself

process
proceed
procedes

ideas for word plays poems etc on retrospective — for my black and white works so that I have a “page” — to go with that a page/poster — which could later become a book page
I pick up Olson at “Asymptotes” and find “i, too, am retted down” — ret is part of retrospection I wondered what to do with — is ret a word etc

German rot
English rot

by the dictionary ret is linked to rot (my father knew all these words from years of crossword puzzles — links to my father’s death — subject for cantos for myself rotting death — links to myself) (work with dictionary — the page would get too long — tropisms — links to literature)

what is the dye in the Hardy novel — which novel am i thinking of

page as a fragment of these pages expanded — worked on etc

10AM
reading Arts on p41 on making and remaking a painting
note to critics on my underlining — some things only relate to current thoughts — in a year if I look at this magazine I’ll have no idea why I underlined that passage — others are underlined because I like the passage — but my tastes change
