<nb><11/21/17 side notes put inline here>
possibly the unsophisticated visual art scene is Austin is the scene of the future
I work or think from contrary directions — thinking the end of the art scene as we know it (as positive) —
yet looking for a gallery or whatever and wanting that sort of gallery here
but that is probably impossible in most cities — I really can’t get out of the production modes —
so think about that (keep Acker essay on copyright in mind) my recent ideas for using art objects only as a starting point
for a (non objective) (the word can take a totally new meaning here — Duchamp) —
art using scans photos and writings etc — art becoming a schema for the production of art
<11/21/17 i don’t remember the essay or where it is —>
but I keep coming back to objects — an idea for a box type art — or a cupboard type of art — like a <reliquary??> or something — something with closed doors that opens to the art work — some idea for something with electronic components comes to mind with a working clock on the outside or something — plexiglass boxes — a cabinet that could contain an audio CD — reference papers etc
<11/21/17 the same ideas for so many years>
modules — components
ideas on visualizations — a large modular piece spreading out over a wall —
a set of tall uprights — sculptures in a large open area —
work wise I need to develop a system to hold the modules together — a collection of stones —
cf or a la Carl Andre
<a picture of an andre work (from pinterest) in right column>
in a more coherent writing system I should make a listing of art works that I like —
where I saw them or pictures of them — a lot of the work that has most influenced me I’ve never seen —
something else against the art scene
another thing I should write out are my ideas for using the internet as a conveyor of art info —
and some cataloging ideas — (that is not commercial) — where the art is put up to convey the art and not into value —
where one could link to different artists and get a catalog of the work — with ideas etc
(commercial would be a part of it— but only one part) it seems that art money would be much better spent this way —
getting artists with sites and helping catalog their work — including major artists — successful artists etc —
as a sort of donation — being able to get photographs of all of Caro’s work or DiSuvero’s without the copyright bullshit —
the artist could donate the photos or some art organization could pay to put them up —
links could be made to critical <?> where one could see the works in different contexts and read essays etc —
(criticism purchased from the writer and then freely accessed from that point) —
