private vs public collection
my collection is private because it has no use to the public —
compare — CDs & books — disappearing into the cloud — (i’ve never liked ‘the cloud’ metaphor but it fits here) i have a few thousand books (more or less) but i’m not really a collector of books — or music —
as it becomes possible for books to be their use value — people are buying more books — but fewer CDs — music fits better in the cloud — books will need time to reach their ‘streaming’ usefulness

——
the rain quiets — patterns of rain on the window — no longer flowing —
last night a dream — we had some sort of water feature that we noted something alive in which bothered us because we thought we would have to maintain it — then there was a fish — and we knew we would have to — we had no idea how they got there — it was a large murky pond
i was looking for fish in the water yesterday — water shallow & clear — but no fish visible — the ugly clams that live in these lakes

nice walk along the lake
