the idea of notes in the margin expanding a page outward so that one would telescope in to various levels — in focusing on the main text or first level the notes would be large letters on the peripheral and notes to those larger and farther out — on the next level the main text would shrink to a rectangle in the page — possibly readable — possibly with a magnifying glass — on the next level of notes it probably wouldn’t be readable — (I haven’t done any actual experimentation to get size ratios etc) — the opposite possibility of getting smaller and smaller — the use of notes the same size which would cause the expansion of the actual page — an idea of 2 dimensional writing where a page would occupy the entirety of a much larger page and notes and notes to notes would occupy the margins — movements around the page — the basic footnote idea — to expand to multiple layers — aspects of Joyce — my early texts — different possibilities for the same text — (gather into a list — sometime) scattered ideas —
reading this article on Linda Shearer I get glimpses of all my art ideas (not all)
that float about (float?) needing formulation — the {object / concept} — {place / non place} —
my being mid career and unnoticed not that I have ever* tried to be that problem
(trying or not trying to be to be noticed (the overlays here in my own mind that can’t be conveyed —
thoughts on being etc — from Hofstadter book (I like these overlays that come from mixed readings
(I usually try to read a novel or something while reading art magazines)) — to be or not to be noticed —
I have never tried to exhibit or really to show anyone my work something that I want to do —
on the other hand do I want to produce objects (the idea of the arrangement)) — aspects of scale
art as arrangement rather than object — small sculpture from wood made to be hand held —
the question of value — art value vs craft value — the changing value brought about by demand and scarcity —
economics of art — the anti-economics of Duchamp and many of my own ideas — another paradox —
I want to make a lot of money from my art — I want to do away with art as an expensive commodity
reading on Rosenquist p111 — thought of what I wanted to write on about art made
for one place and being used in another— which I like — as opposed to Serra et al —
(is this really the issue? — pride?) — ‘Pop Art and new Expressionism’ —
