(afternoon)
thoughts on thighs and knees
colors of the time —

   pink  thighs
mauve thighs

black grey
grey green eyes of restaurant waitress — tones of flesh color
flash of flesh — a knee ( ) from a dress
goddess of the fair knees
I know no Dianes or Dianas

I don’t like these “to” poems (usually) — occasional pieces inspired by some incident etc — I like the drawn out overlays of Pound and Eliot — worked out — as the ideas fade behind layers of associated meanings sounds etc
to a dead dog

a dead fish on lake shore etc

the smell of rot — millions of snails

(images of past years — any year
the same over and over
different dead things — year after year)

shimmer of leaves — whistle (poor word for that sound) of a train
2 lines from whistle so they center around it

<refer to notes 2842>

pull generations of form into the form as Pound pulls quotations and history into the poem
changing delineations as the page change leads to thoughts on art form and my desire for changeable forms — mutable poems — entelechy denied
rhythms of a poem opens up — could open up into an essay on art — one thing devours another — oroborus — cycles in/of time

vortex — vortices — Lewis’ definition

so many layers I don’t know about so much to learn what is/was vorticism other than something Lewis did for a time

PM — work break
brilliance of the Derrida text — one doesn’t even have to understand —
translation — problems etc — different views

a vast encyclopedia of my knowledge — the paradox of not being able to write it — can never catch up with myself — as my book — this text never catches up with itself —

imaginary books

understanding is usually not a virtue and is not necessarily desirable
