should I describe — such a set of notes could be placed anywhere in the text —
at different times
different surroundings
changes in location
changes in media — (pen computer)
changes in the weather
<from june to december — about half a year — totally out of touch with these notes so they could be from anytime — can't place myself in them as i sometimes can>
do these have anything to do with the story —
what is the story
what are these things
previous to beginning this narrative I wrote some notes on the difficulty of books —
one difficulty of accessibility is the inability to relate to certain structures or ideas —
everyone can relate to love — very few can relate to writing a book —
(although it seems that everyone is or was writing a novel at some time) —
examination of the tenses of narrative — I really haven’t read enough narratives —
perhaps it’s not my milieu
perhaps this will be another aborted attempt
<as it was — barth on pregnancy and abortion — my absolute pathological dislike of pregnancy>
perhaps rather than writing a story — the story of my writing a book — I should write a text about my notes which have now reached 3615 — obviously there is a temporal difference between this and a normal narrative in that the events of a normal narrative are past — whereas this is ongoing — although for the reader there should be no difference — actually the difference is not great only the outline is simpler
there is only one line — I write a book
there is something wrong with the above lines —
I cycle into problems that keep cycling through my notes —
(in any narrative there are elements that don’t become clear until later) — interruption etc
what becomes part of this book
how does an author decide when to describe clothing for example
when to describe surroundings
the balance between plot development and embellishment
a rainy day — the sound of the shower
