<another section i’m having a hard time

reading but seems important — again all could be in red>

yesterday finished Outwork of Derrida’s book — just finished The Mind’s I — many interesting ideas — I don’t find the idea that we are survival machines for genes strange — but logical — I like the idea of memes — perhaps that is a way of looking at one's art etc — (vision of my father fading away — what is left — words fading
(Burroughs’s lines — music in the wind — empty streets)
a couple of lines for the book — p442 quote - p453 — normally I don’t think I have control over what I think — does anyone? — the difference between ideas and words

“Normally, I think that I’m in control of what I think”

an idea to respond to although it is 2nd order sort of — a character’s line not the author’s necessarily

“like an artificial concept produced by my distorted perspective.”

struck me like lines from Burroughs (same quote as above (expansion and transformation of the page)) — especially if the “my” is changed to “a”

something wrong with the parentheses i think — some possibilities here

Nozick — relate to Barth and some of my ideas — the I
my I
my ideas on computer minds <?> with these ideas
multiple aspects of a book
this book
the idea of writing as sustained adventure or of means of dissemination of ideas — as a grant application — selfish memes seeking to multiply — the ambiguity of publishing etc — a paradox of a sort — how do I express it? — devote pages to it? — try to write a coherent essay? — the same problems again and again — how do I write a book
this book
aspect of play and work mentioned by Dennett (quote?)
I begin reading Art News summer 86 p15 which prompts — prompted —

jun 1986
the same problems again and again how do I write a book
6/86-17
an interesting pairing — hofstadter has pretty much faded out of mind but derrida remains very important for me

3/23/19 changing ideas — i don’t like the idea of meme — genes — a chicken or egg thing
changed a couple of line ups in this section using spaces
the 'I's of 'the I' and 'my I' should line up — they line up in dreamweave but none of the browsers i looked at the page in
