finished the art piece with the old chart recorder — most of the time spent in getting the screws in in the narrow space —

reading Perspectives on Contemporary Music Babbitt — I don’t understand — but anyway —work some theory into it

thinking in terms of different lengths for pieces — Ambience — pieces could be arbitrarily long or short — applying rules of transformation etc

need to get some practical work done with sounds — build up a library of sounds at the same time as working on structures and theories

i made a note of wanting to redo some of the old pieces today or yesterday — try to work through the mistakes i made before —
i’m still not sure i can do anything that i like but i have a lot of components and ideas for how to put them together

music has also been on my mind again — the computer and music things are set up — bang on some pots and bowls —

again now — actually thought about buying a new kyma system and then realized it was more a sound design tool than a music production tool
a) we have a great music studio without adding anything
b) we have hardly used what we have
c) i’d rather by a lot of low cost things than one expensive one
d) buying something like kyma always necessitates buying more things
