11/19
finally got around to watching the rest of dennis miller video —
the first ones we looked at some time ago were ok — but there’s
something i don’t like about that type of 3D blobs —
but 'VIS—A—VIS' & 'FRACTUR' were very excellent —
there was only one piece i thought was bad in the whole collection — and it had the most ‘electric’ sound track
(examine the terms ‘electric’ or ‘electronic’ music as it is used in pop music & otherwise)
<they> make me feel more and more like going toward abstraction —
(what to do with all my paper)
(there is still a drive to use photography —)
amorphous shapes vs geometry —
use various techniques —
time & motion are major problems — or criteria
looking at B Diller book — thinking of the possibilities of that type of geometry as opposed to line & point — whitney —
differential motion
differential growth
i am looking at diller images that are the size of or smaller than a screen display —
(note on large screen TVs)
my eyes get bothered watching too much of that type of abstraction —
DILLER — RELIEF — 3D that can’t really be matched
you can’t walk by the screen and see different angles and shadows —
[but] there is always some element missing — there is very little ‘chance’ of seeing these works anyway —
enjoy objects — but make art for distribution —
thinking of video using photos & video clips —
VS abstraction —
which would hold interest better —
(i have a hard time watching entire movies even some that i like —)
