most film is still ‘realist’ but the dramatic aspect has changed very much — from a theatrical drama to a filmic drama — but the film never reached the stage that i always thought it should
Brakhage, whitney and a few others

film goes on but video is the new medium and it begins by replicating the film

watched ‘scanners’ last night
there is something wrong about cronenberg — something a bit corny or clichéd
but there is something that i like about him

different directions that film / video can move beyond theatre
the surrealist film
the self referential type of film

‘the magician’ - ‘blow up’ - ‘barton fink’ - ‘inland empire’

abstract film

different abstractions — flicker effects. thinks like Brakhage single frame things
‘animated’ abstraction

i suppose i should be discouraged by all these notes — by my not being able to act on them
to sit and write some politics or to get out the synth and start playing it
there are no excuses — maybe i just don’t want to do anything

the dilemma of buying a lot of little things or saving money to buy something large
like computer and software

make an ‘essential’ list of CDs and DVDs and books
only buy other things after serious thought
