how is a list like this made — is it one person’s list - several people combined <male & female?> — who is the person or who are these people —

i can’t make ‘best book’ lists for example my 10 favorite
writers — i could list 4 or 5 but then the list gets murky —
more than 5 or 6 belong — the list can’t be narrowed down — 20 best —
it still gets flexible at the end —
