a couple of evening ago i had one of those times when i suddenly notice a changing season — it was nearly dark at 8 —

the rapid passage of time measured by the phases of the moon — a half moon tonight — almost exactly a straight edge — i like the phases from crescent to half but i don’t like the gibbous phases

starting somewhere
today is the equinox — the fall
more of an ending time than a beginning — an end of the productive year — harvest time

the winter solstice is a time of beginning and ending — birth and death of the sun— end of one year — start of another — the tilt of the earth lines the sun up with the tropic of capricorn

the spring equinox is also a time of rebirth — the rebirth of green — the beginning of the growing season — the earth’s equator lines up with the sun

the summer solstice is an in between one — sort of a nothing position for me — the sun is farthest north at the tropic of cancer
